My name is Cindi Christman. Yup, a girl doing taxidermy.
I started doing taxidermy in 1987 as a way to utilize my artistic skills and be able to work out of my home as I raised my daughter. I opened Beartooth Taxidermy in St. Germain, Wisconsin in 1990. I moved to Conover in December of 2015 to enjoy some peace and quiet off the main highway. Finally in 2018 my long standing dream of living in the mountains came true and I was able to move to Helena, Montana.
Prior to this I had served a stint in the army and gotten a BS in geology from the University of Wisconsin - Parkside and worked on a masters degree at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Born and raised in Wisconsin, I have since lived in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Germany and Kentucky as well as Wyoming.
I was very active in the Wisconsin Taxidermists Association through the late 80's and 90's, serving on the board, various committees, attending and giving seminars, along with competing in state competitions. My goal in competing was to test myself each year to gauge my improvement in quality. I entered all types of taxidermy...birds, fish, mammals and gameheads. I earned many blue ribbons over the years and Best of Categories in all these types of entries. Over time I progressed to the Master's level and specialized in my favorite type of mounts: mammals. At that level of competition I have earned many State Champion Awards, along with many other sponsored awards such as SCI, Wisconsin Trappers Assn, WASCO and so on. Twice I won the Best All-Around Taxidermist award for the state. Outside the state I won Best International Taxidermist, Best International Gamehead and several blue ribbons at the World Competition.

I don't compete very much anymore. Once in a while I'll get a bug to show the new guys I'm still around. Today I divide my time between doing taxidermy, both retail and wholesale, sculpting for Matuska Taxidermy Supply, and commissioned pet portraiture. In my "spare time" enjoy my time hiking and exploring the gorgeous Montana country with my three dogs, Sage, Cal and Poppy.
